It's been a great year for football in 2011. But not for everyone. Some players have not had a good year. Here is our team of flops.

Goalkeeper
Manuel Almunia
The former Arsenal number one can’t even get on the bench for a cup tie now. He was sent out on loan to West Ham but soon returned to Arsenal where he might not even be third choice keeper now. A series of errors and injuries have made him a real flop in 2011.

Defenders
Paul Robinson
Maybe a little unfair to put him in but the Bolton full back is past his best. In the team for his experience but all too often now he gets caught out of position and out run by the fast wingers.

Sebastien Squillaci
Squillaci was brought to Arsenal to help keep the goals out but it’s not quite worked out that way. He’s only played twice for Arsenal this season. Recently he came on with ten minutes to go and Arsenal were winning. By the end of the game they’d lost 2-1. High profile mistakes have cost him dearly and he became a laughing stock to many fans.

Wayne Bridge
The former England defenders career has really gone off the boil. After a good spell towards the end of last season at West Ham, he returned to Man City where he’s not got near the first team. Publicly criticised by his manager for not wanting to leave 2011 has been a bad year for Bridge.

David Luiz
Signed last January for around £25 million pounds, Luiz’s career started well at Chelsea. But recently he has become quite a liability. Often looking shaky at the back and making silly mistakes. Many pundits see him as the weak link in the Chelsea side. We’ll like the big haired Brazilian captain our side.

Stephen Ireland
A couple of seasons ago it looked like Ireland could have been a Manchester City great. But it all went so very wrong. He was transferred to Aston Villa where after only 10 games he was sent on loan to Newcastle where he only played twice. Since returning to Villa this season it’s not got much better for him.

Kieron Dyer
The injury prone midfielder has had yet another year to forget. He was sent on loan to Ipswich where he managed four games before being given a free transfer by West Ham. QPR decided they would take a risk on him but that backfired as on his debut he got injured after just three minutes and it’s unlikely he’ll play again this season.

Steven Pienaar
Since turning down Chelsea and joining Spurs last January Peinaar has had a year to forget. He played a few times for Spurs towards the end of the season but never really found any form and this season he has spent most of it injured and only recently scored his first goal for the club.

Strikers
Emile Heskey
Emile Heskey is becoming less and less effective as a striker because he hardly finds the net. In 2011 Heskey managed just five goals and has only scored one this year. What a flop in front of goal.

Andy Carroll
The most expensive British footballer ever and the eight most expensive player in the world, Andy Carroll has had a year to forget. Since joining Liverpool he’s only managed four goals and with fans and pundits starting to get on his back it’s looking worrying for the big forward.

Fernando Torres
Torres used to be one of the most feared strikers in the World. Not anymore. It took him 903 minutes to score his first goal for Chelsea after his £50 million move and things haven’t improved must for him. He’s only managed five goals since joining Chelsea and now struggles to get a game. The biggest flop of the year for us.
